Cookbook Review: Cravings by Chrissy Teigan

I've been a fan of Chrissy Teigen for a while now. She's a super model with a hilarious social media presence, a terribly cute family, and she gives off the perfect amount of 'cool girl' vibes. What's not to love? When I found out that she loved cooking and eating as much as I do, I knew that she and I were meant to be BFFs (in my head). I also knew that I needed "Cravings" asap!

"Cravings" by Chrissy Teigen has all the hallmarks of a charming cookbook. It features beautiful pictures and witty anecdotes that help bring to life the delicious featured recipes. The pages of the book capture a variety of aspects of Chrissy's life including references to her modeling career (low-carb lettuce wraps), many family recipes and photos including a entire chapter on Thai food, and even copy-cat recipes from her favorite restaurants.
The title of the book does not disappoint. She's selected recipes that are crunchy, saucy, savory, fried, and cheesy. You'll surely have some cravings after ogling the photo and reading through the ingredient lists.
The first recipe I tried was the ricotta gnocci (pictured below). Having never made gnocci before, I was a bit nervous, but the recipe was easy to follow. I do think I served my final dish with a bit too much butter sauce; some of my bites were a bit greasy. Overall, the recipe was yummy and I would definitely make it again. The dish is indulgent, so I think a small portion as a first or second course would be the perfect way to enjoy it.

She dedicates a good portion of the book to party food; entertaining is clearly a passion of hers. There is a whole section called "Shit on Toast," which I hope to tackle soon starting with the Bruscetta.

While she's got the savory stuff on lock, there are no dessert recipes to be found. I know she is working on another book, so maybe in the next one we'll satiate craving for sweets.
